Installing AssetTrack on your iOS device

Phase 1: Accept our TestFlight invitation and connect your device

You will receive an email invitation from us via TestFlight, our testing system. Please open this email and go through the registration process on your iOS device.

The process should look like this:

Step 1: Open the invitation email on your iOS device and tap the “Accept” button. This should open Safari and take you to the next step.

Step 2: In Safari, fill out the “Join with a new account” form and tap “Sign Up”.

Step 3: You should see this confirmation screen. Tap the “View All Apps” button to progress to the next step.

Step 4: Tap the “Connect Device” button.

If Step 3 doesn’t take you to Step 4:  You can tap the left arrow to expose this menu and tap “Device Information to get to the screen that will let you connect your device.

Step 5: Tap the “Reconnect Device” button.

Step 6: Tap the Install button. Don’t worry; this won’t do anything freaky to your device.

Step 7: Once the profile has installed, tap the “Done” button at top right.

Step 8: You should arrive at this screen, which instructs you to wait for another email.

Once you’ve reached this point, just sit tight! You should receive another email when your evaluation build becomes available.

Phase 2: Install AssetTrack on your iOS device

You should receive another email from AMI that will take you through this next series of steps.

Step 1: This is an example of the installation email you should receive from AMI. Again, open it on your iOS device and tap the “Install” button.

Step 2: You should be taken to this screen. Tap the “Install” button.

Step 3: Tap the “Install” button in this pop-up.

Step 4: You should see AssetTrack installing on your iOS device.

Sometimes you can get stuck in a weird loop where TestFlight keeps telling you that an update is available even though you just installed AssetTrack. If that happens, just choose the option to “Skip” the update and tap “Yes” to dismiss this dialog box.

Using AssetTrack

Step 1: To sign in to AssetTrack, enter your credentials. You may have been provided credentials by AMI or your company's application administrator. If not, try the username "admin" with password "admin". This is a default account for AssetTrack installations.

Step 2: If you’ve arrived at this screen, you’ve succeeded in logging in, and you’re ready to use AssetTrack!

Please check out the suggested exercises below to go through some tasks that will help you drive the app's capabilities.

Suggested exercises

These exercises assume AMI data

The exercises in this section refer to asset tags that are provided for AMI-hosted demo systems. If you're using your own data in your own environment, these tags will not reconcile with your assets. If you're running these exercises in your own environment, you can generate barcodes for your own assets at http://support.assetmgi.com/barcodes

Please print the pages below (p13-16), preferably on a laser printer. The camera scanner behaves unpredictably when scanning your computer screen.

These are testing exercises that are intentionally a little vague. They give you a task but let you try to figure some things out on your own. This way, you can assess how intuitive the app is.

Exercise 1: Moving assets using the IMAC form

Four users are having their laptops upgraded. Their old laptops are being put into a store room and the new laptops are being deployed.

Old Latitude laptops

  • Use the IMAC form to set the status of these laptops to “Stored”.
  • Use the IMAC form to set the location of these laptops to "Angel Hills West > Floor 1 > IT Store Room".

Location barcodes

These are barcodes that are stuck on doorways of their respective locations. Using these barcodes can be a faster alternative to browsing for locations in certain scenarios.

Angel Hills West > Floor 1 > IT Store Room
Angel Hills West > Floor 1 > Room 1

New Precision laptops

  • Use the IMAC form to set the status of these laptops to “Installed”.
  • Use the IMAC form to set the location of these laptops to Angel Hills West > Floor 1 > Room 1.

Exercise 2: Receiving assets using the Receive form

The following Dell PowerEdge M520 servers have were ordered and they’ve just arrived at the receiving center, and you want to receive them into Flagstone Ave > Floor 2 > Receiving Center.

Location browsing

The barcode for the Receiving Center location has been damaged and cannot be scanned. Tap on the location to browse to Flagstone Ave > Floor 2 > Receiving Center.

New PowerEdge M520 servers

  • Use the Receive form to set the status of these servers to “Received”.
  • Use the Receive form to set the location of these servers to Angel Hills West > Floor 1 > Room 1.
  • Use the Receive form to set the model of these servers to PowerEdge M520

Exercise 3: Receiving rogue assets during IMAC

You’re trying to IMAC all six of the following servers to 4802 HREHA LOOP > Floor 1 > Eastpointe Data Center and assigning them to Kizzy Baca, the data center admin. Start by scanning all six servers with the intention to IMAC them, then see the instructions below.

You have no doubt found that three of the six assets are rogue (red). Your business process requires that all rogue assets must be received before they’re IMAC’d.

Use the checkbox controls in the toolbar to isolate just the rogue assets and use the Receive form to Receive just the three rogue assets. On the Receive form, express that it’s PowerEdge M610x,, use the Save button (NOT the Save & Remove) button to keep the rogue assets in the list.

Now that you’ve Received the rogues (they’re still be red), you can IMAC all six assets to 4802 HREHA LOOP > Floor 1 > Eastpointe Data Center and to Kizzy Baca.
