Downloading data to the device

Before using your AssetTrack Windows Mobile device, it must be loaded with  data from the AssetTrack server, including:


  • User accounts
  • Field and form configuration information
  • Assets
  • Assignees 
  • Locations
  • Models
  • Vendors

Sync Plans 

Loading data onto a Windows Mobile device is done by running a Sync Plan.  Your asset manager can create additional sync plans providing ways to filter the data that is downloaded to specific groups of devices.  For example, you can filter out everything except assets from California for users in California.  

 

AssetTrack comes with several default sync plans, which should provide everything you need to get going with your mobile device.

Download All

Downloads all data from the server. Run this sync plan to load the device with everything you need. Use this sync plan the first time you load your mobile device.

Download Configuration

Downloads only configuration information including fields, forms, user accounts and other system settings. Use this sync plan if you change your form configuration or if you add or change user accounts.

 Downloading data to your mobile device

To download data to your mobile device: 

  1. Ensure that your device is connected to the network. See /wiki/spaces/internal/pages/2031670 or more information on connecting your device to the network.
     
  2. Start AssetTrack Mobile and Log in. The AssetTrack main menu appears.

  3. Click Download. The Sync form appears.

  4. You can optionally press the Refresh button at this point to download the latest sync plans to the device. If your sync plans have changed at all, you must press the Refresh button in order to download the latest sync plan change.
     
  5. Select the sync plan you want to run from the Select sync plan drop down list.
     
  6. Click Run sync plan. A progress bar indicates that data is being downloaded to the device. Do not disconnect the device from the cradle until the sync plan has completed.

  7. When the sync plan completes, the message Sync Completed will be displayed on screen. Click OK to return to the main menu.

 

You can now disconnect the device from the cradle. You can now use the device to collect data.

Quick Sync

After you have run a Sync Plan, you can run Quick Sync to download the latest assets, models and POs.  See Quick Sync for more information.
