CA Asset Portfolio Management (APM) integration issues

Here are some troubleshooting tips for CA Asset Portfolio Management (APM) integration issues. If you can’t find the answer you need here or want more assistance, please submit a request through the AMI Support Help Desk.

If you are using AssetTrack version 3.2 or earlier, please consult our earlier Troubleshooting - UAPM integration documentation. Topics covered in this troubleshooting section are for AssetTrack 3.5.x.

Troubleshooting APM 11.3.x integrations

Verify the correct Connect DLL version is installed on AssetTrack Server

AssetTrack integrates with Asset Portfolio Management (APM) via what's called the "Connect API."  That API is different between different versions of APM. By default, the AssetTrack installer assumes you are running the APM 11.3.4 release version. If you are running a different version, which would happen if you were to install a patch to APM, you must keep the versions of the DLLs that AssetTrack uses in sync with the versions that APM is running.

If you are experiencing errors when publishing to APM, often the issue is that you have the wrong Connect API version installed on your AssetTrack Server.

To update your Connect DLLs to the correct version for your APM system:

  1. On the APM machine navigate to C:\Program Files\CA\Asset Portfolio Management\Console (or where APM is installed if it is installed to a different location) and copy the files below.

    • adodb.dll
    • iargutil.dll
    • iconfig.dll
    • iconnect.dll
    • idatabse.dll
    • ienums.dll
    • iexceptn.dll
    • iftinfo.dll
    • imiscobj.dll
    • Interop.MSScriptControl.dll
    • iutility.dll
    • iwinapi.dll

  2. On the AssetTrack machine copy the same files to C:\Program Files\AMI\AssetTrack Server\bin (or where AssetTrack is installed if it is installed to a different location).

If you are using the deprecated Unicenter Integration Web service, you will need to replace the Connect DLLs in the /bin directory of your AMI_UnicenterIntegration virtual directory on the server.  Using the APM Integration Web service is not recommended, but was the standard before AssetTrack 3.1. Therefore, if you are running an earlier AssetTrack version than version 3.1, you will need to replace the connect dlls in your AMI_UnicenterIntegration bin directory.

Caution! Don't manually delete any files!

Do not manually delete any files in the /bin directory.  Only replace the .dll files that come from the APM directory.  If you delete files in the /bin directory other than the Connect DLLs, AssetTrack will not function properly.
