AssetTrack Overview

Asset Management is about maintaining complete, current and accurate data about your hardware and software assets, and using that information to make informed, cost-saving decisions.

Given a rapidly changing environment, maintaining accurate asset information is challenging.  With assets being received, stored, deployed, repaired, disposed and audited on a regular basis, keeping the database current is challenging.  Many organizations fail and require baseline inventories to "true up."  AssetTrack solves this by providing a combination of tools that enable field users, asset managers and system integrators to collect, reconcile and record asset data efficiently as the activity occurs.

AssetTrack's Components

AssetTrack™ provides all the tools to make this possible:

Data CaptureAssetTrack minimizes time spent receiving, updating and retiring asset information over manual or spreadsheet-based methods using handheld scanners, smartphones and web-forms.
Data Reconciliation

The AssetTack Queue eliminates wasted time reconciling collected data by detecting duplicate records, improperly formatted data and conflicts, and providing asset managers the tools to correct and approve records before corrupting the asset repository.

IntegrationAssetTrack's Integration Services connect AssetTrack to existing repositories and ERP systems, enabling AssetTrack to feed accurate hardware information to other systems.
ReportingAssetTrack's reporting tools enable automated delivery of asset reports. Also, all data collection and reconciliation activity is logged within AssetTrack, enabling management reporting essential to ensuring users are following defined processes. You can't manage what you don't measure.

Barcode and RFID Data Capture

AssetTrack runs on Windows Mobile and iOS devices with integrated barcode and/or RFID scanners, facilitating rapid collection of data in the field.

Data from the asset repository (e.g. Assets, Locations, Contacts, Products, Departments, etc.) is available to field personnel using AssetTrack Mobile. Data collected using AssetTrack Mobile is subsequently transmitted to the server Queue for processing. Forms in AssetTrack Mobile can be configured to support a wide range of business scenarios like receiving, inventories, audits, and data true-ups. Forms are tailored to your exact business needs by displaying only relevant fields, filtering available data, defining pick-lists, and enforcing data entry rules.

See the Data Collector's Guide for more information on AssetTrack data capture tools.

Reviewing and Publishing Collected Data

Your repository is only as good as the data that it contains, so data quality is paramount. The AssetTrack Management Console is a central catchpoint through which all data collected by AssetTrack must pass before being transmitted to the repository. The Management Console automatically applies whatever data quality rules you’ve defined and flags non-conforming data for review and correction. After the data has been reviewed and approved, it can be published to the repository with a single button click.

See the Asset Manager's Guide for information on validating and publishing data collected by field users.

Customization

AssetTrack is designed to be customized to fit your unique business processes. Fields, field labels, validation rules, form security, and much more are all administered through the AssetTrack Management Console, making AssetTrack flexible to support unique asset tracking requirements.

See Designing Task Forms for information on customizing AssetTrack interfaces.

Integration

AssetTrack provides the infrastructure to unify and integrate barcode & RFID data collection processes with multiple backend systems.  Imagine one common receiving process supercharged with barcode scanners that updates both ERP and ITAM systems in one step.  AssetTrack's out-of-box integration with ServiceNow, HP Asset Manager, CA Asset Portfolio Management, as well as its XSL-based file publishing system make this possible.

See the Integrator's Guide for information on integrating AssetTrack with ITAM, ITSM, CMDB or ERP systems.
